Freedom Besieged Screening

January 17, 2019

Many thanks to director Panayioti Yannitsos for his compelling documentary “FREEDOM BESIEGED”, which highlights some of the repercussions of Greece’s economic crisis on its youth and its future. The sold out premiere screening on January 17, 2019 with almost 500 people in attendance was a resounding success.

We hope this informative and inspirational film motivates the diaspora to help those in Greece who are suffering through these difficult times. Approximately one third of Greeks currently live in poverty or in danger of poverty. According to a 2017 UNICEF report, the poverty rate for minors stands at 45 percent. Many children are going hungry.
